About the Role
As the ME Industrial Systems for Suppliers Industrial Leader, you will be instrumental in supporting our global supplier network, ensuring they meet expected performance targets for key Airbus programmes including SA, A220, LR, A350, and A400M. This exciting role is based in Filton, near Bristol, and involves frequent international travel to our suppliers.
You will provide essential technical Manufacturing Engineering (ME) support to suppliers, focusing on both serial production and the industrialisation of next-generation aircraft. Your responsibilities will include managing New Product Introduction and Transfer of Work projects, with a primary focus on the Single Aisle aircraft family (A320/A321), but with the potential to support all programmes.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance the industrial capability of our Aero structure & Detail Parts Supply Chain.
- Secure and drive industrial performance, improvements, and innovation within our supplier base.
- Coordinate activities within your designated perimeter and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Address and resolve non-quality issues within the Airbus Aero structure & Detail Parts Supply Chain.
- Drive process improvements, technology dissemination, and industrial innovation projects at supplier sites.
- Utilise manufacturing expertise to enhance quality and support the capability of Aero structure & Detail Parts suppliers.
- Act as a manufacturing Industrial Authority for development projects, focusing on co-design philosophy.
How You Will Contribute
- Analyse the industrial capability of potential new suppliers.
- Contribute to Transfer of Work project teams within the supplier network.
- Organise and lead industrial kick-off meetings with suppliers.
- Lead Supplier Industrial Reviews until Industrial Coordination Handover is complete.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis of technical abnormalities to determine manufacturing capability issues.
- Contribute to design reviews, specifically focusing on design for manufacture to ensure industrialisation readiness.
About You
- You will have a technical background in manufacturing engineering with practical experience in metallic or composite detail part manufacturing.
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, methods, and the ability to assess design drawings for manufacturability is essential.
- A good understanding of tolerances and drawing dimensioning with machineability in mind is required.
- Working knowledge of CATIA is necessary.
- Aerospace experience or background is preferable.
- A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification is expected.
