ME Lead Process Engineer - Launchers (Space Industry)
We are seeking an experienced ME Lead Process Engineer to join our team and contribute to the space industry. This role offers a significant opportunity to technically lead the development of a comprehensive, time and cost-optimized Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Testing (MAIT) process, designed for efficient production implementation.
The ME Lead plays a crucial role in navigating technical complexities, managing project priority shifts, and resolving critical issues to ensure the achievement of requirements and schedule adherence, all while maintaining high standards of quality and cost control.
You will be part of a highly engaged, multi-skilled engineering team working on a variety of challenging projects.
General Responsibilities
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to define a consolidated Industrial Product, including detailed part definition, manufacturing and assembly processes, and industrial means.
- Ensure the development and implementation of correct, consistent, and optimized shopfloor processes that meet project requirements and adhere to business standards.
- Apply mechanical skills, including technical expertise in tolerance analysis and dimensioning for parts and assemblies.
During the Project Design Phase:
- Participate in and support project meetings and reviews, including PFMA, DMU reviews, and Concurrent MFTs with Design Engineering, Industrial Means, Quality, and Production.
- Prepare inputs to ensure product/project requirements (KIDs) are fit for manufacture (DFM).
- Define and support the build process, ensuring a correct and consolidated process definition, including detailed process simulation, final tolerance analysis, and updates to the Product Structure (As-Planned) and specifications for delivered components.
- Consolidate and agree on the build process with relevant stakeholders and production areas.
- Provide essential inputs to Industrial Planning regarding build processes, line balancing, process times, skill requirements, and lead time estimations.
- Contribute inputs on recurring and non-recurring costs associated with the industrial model.
- Support Supplier Industrialization by providing technical assistance for manufacturing/purchase strategies, managing supplier work packages, and overseeing the technical aspects of bids and supplier selection.
- Manage the creation of Industrialization documentation, including Built Process studies and Process Flows.
- Manage the creation of Manufacturing Documentation: BOM preparation (As-Prepared) and Routing preparation (As-Prepared).
- Create and update internal documentation (Procedures, Work Instructions, Technical Instructions, etc.) and external documentation (user manuals).
- Prepare MRR/IRR Datapacks, including routings and applicable documentation.
- Update inputs to Industrial Planning, including build process details, line balancing, and cost estimations.
During the Execution Phase:
- Attend and support SQCD Panel Daily meetings, PPS meetings, Schedule reviews, and Recovery Plan meetings.
- Provide technical shopfloor support, including monitoring activities, assisting operations, and analyzing specific issues.
- Contribute to the configuration and improvement of product design, industrial processes, and resources.
- Offer technical solutions for pending work to minimize impact.
- Provide methods and processes support.
- Deliver timely feedback to management on process engineering issues.
- Review actual recurring and non-recurring costs and identify/analyze deviations.
- Maintain applicable documentation (Work Instructions, Technical Instructions, Procedures, etc.).
- Support the assessment of Non-Conformances and manage the Non-Conformance Process Flow.
- Host and support Lessons Learned exercises with key stakeholders at critical milestones.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in Manufacturing or Engineering.
- Soft Skills: Open-mindedness to change, strong teamwork ability, and effective communication skills.
- Languages: Advanced level of English.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in SAP and CATIA is required.
- Desirable: Experience in AIRBUS, Space, or a similar industry environment is a strong asset.
