Role Description:
Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the commissioning, servicing, defect rectification, and maintenance of marine systems on board Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers, Type 45 (T45) Destroyers, Type 23 (T23) Frigates, and Hunt Class Platforms. This fully site-based role in Portsmouth Naval Base also involves supporting any contracted tasking.
Core Duties:
- Commissioning and setting to work mechanical systems including sea water cooling, freshwater systems, steering, and stabilising systems.
- Performing defect diagnosis and rectification on a variety of equipment and systems.
- Providing essential technical guidance and support to Royal Navy personnel on equipment operation to ensure optimal performance.
- Participating in a team delivering designated trials and commissioning activities.
- Offering global support to the Royal Navy.
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical marine systems.
- Experience in the commissioning of mechanical systems within a marine environment.
- Proven ability to fault find and diagnose defects on mechanical systems.
- NVQ Level 3 & 4 qualifications to support inspection and maintenance engineering activities.
