About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer within the Cavendish Nuclear business, you will play a crucial role in a variety of projects, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities to supporting continuous at sea deterrence and the operation/build of nuclear power plants. Your work will contribute to cleaning up the nuclear legacy, ensuring national security, securing energy supply, and meeting net-zero commitments.

Cavendish Nuclear tackles major defence, decommissioning, new build, and nuclear generation projects. We are innovators focused on making nuclear safer, faster, and more cost-effective across the entire nuclear energy lifecycle, supporting significant projects like Hinkley C, Sizewell C, and X Energy.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Promote effective collaboration across Engineering and other functional teams.
  • Interface with customers and the supply chain on design issues and support procurement specifications.
  • Ensure correct application of procedures, codes, and standards to technical and engineering activities.
  • Contribute to product safety assessments and act as a technical interface with stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical investigations and analysis to resolve problems and improve designs.
  • Drive process improvements across the operational/design lifecycle to enhance quality and efficiency.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

Nuclear experience is not a prerequisite. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, high-performing, and willing to challenge the status quo. Applicants from all engineering backgrounds are welcome, provided they can demonstrate the following:

  • A minimum of HNC (Higher National Certificate) or HND (Higher National Diploma) in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and a solid understanding of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
  • The ability to build strong, influential relationships with key stakeholders.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance.
