Mechanical Technical Officer - Donnington, Telford

Babcock is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Technical Officer to join our team at the Donnington site in Telford. This role is crucial in supporting critical defence capabilities and ensuring the availability, compliance, and readiness of vital defence assets for the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force.

The Role

As a Mechanical Technical Officer, you will take ownership of specialist equipment throughout its entire lifecycle. You will provide comprehensive through-life technical support for Test and Measurement Equipment, collaborating with various departments including engineering, maintenance, logistics, procurement, quality assurance, and supplier management. You will be part of a specialist team focused on delivering effective, value-for-money support solutions while upholding the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the lifecycle support of Test and Measurement Equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, inventory, and logistics activities.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and engineering records.
  • Support procurement activities and supplier performance management.
  • Monitor equipment compliance, availability, and ongoing support requirements.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based onsite in Donnington.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience working within a project-based environment.
  • Experience producing or managing technical documentation.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting engineering or technical equipment activities.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple workstreams and priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics apprenticeship.
  • Engineering qualification to ONC level or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. Eligibility for roles may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship, and residency.
