Role Description: SPACE Mission Operations Engineer

This is an exciting role within the Space Services and Operations Team, ideally suited for a self-starting individual. You will be responsible for generating mission operations plans for a cluster of satellites, supporting multiple collects per day.

The role requires a solid understanding of spacecraft operations and system engineering. You will use mission planning tools to schedule and plan satellite collects across a cluster of satellites. Additionally, you will submit tasking requests to third parties to procure further satellite data.

While a service background or knowledge of ITIL practices would be beneficial, it is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generating mission operation plans for a cluster of satellites for multiple collects per day.
  • Working within satellite capabilities to schedule the plans.
  • Querying tasking requests and results in the Customer User Interface tool.
  • Tracking progress of data delivery.
  • Reporting on actual versus planned collects.
  • Raising tickets with the Support Desk for any operational issues.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience with Spacecraft Operations planning and delivery.
  • Review power management, memory limits, and thermal constraints.
  • Prepare and execute payload and mission operation plans.
  • Translate mission requirements into conflict-free schedules to be sent to the satellites.
