Role Overview: Avionic Technician (MRO)
As an Avionic Technician within BDUK's Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) organisation, you will be an integral part of a team supporting our key defence programmes. Your responsibilities will include ensuring adherence to established processes, accurate work recording, and contractual/regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assigned maintenance tasks, interpreting and implementing technical information in accordance with Approved Technical Data and authorisations.
- Execute aircraft maintenance activities to meet schedule milestones, controlling workloads and ensuring high work standards and first-time quality.
- Deliver aircraft maintenance under Boeing’s MAA MRP Part 145 approval or the MOD customer’s approval.
- Perform assembly, disassembly, modification, repair, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems, structures, electronics, and components.
- Isolate faults in complex aircraft systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical/electronic) and repair faulty components as per authorised maintenance documents.
- Demonstrate flexibility with work locations and times to ensure on-time aircraft delivery.
- Provide advice, guidance, and mentoring to peers and others.
- Mitigate immediate risks, including initiating ‘stop work’ actions, and escalate emerging risks and issues promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and projects.
- Provide 100% oversight of work carried out by Boeing Apprentices or Trainees, where directed, and offer mentoring.
- Contribute positively to an open and honest reporting culture.
- Successful candidates will be expected to be eligible to apply for 1st signature on type within their first 3 months.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to sequence technical work requirements and manage demanding workloads to a high standard.
- Understanding of technical documents, drawings, and associated publications.
- Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, Aviation Quality Assurance (QA), and Safety Management System (SMS).
- Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to be an effective team member.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Recognised relevant trade apprenticeship or equivalent trade training.
- Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance processes (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).
- Experience in either commercial or defence aviation.
