About the Role

At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Estates Operative to join our team at HM Naval Base Clyde, near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. This role is crucial for maintaining the essential estates infrastructure that supports the UK's defence mission. As a Multi-Skilled Estates Operative, you will deliver planned preventative maintenance activities and ensure the continued performance, safety, and availability of critical facilities and infrastructure. You will collaborate with skilled engineering and estates professionals in a dynamic environment where no two days are alike. Key Responsibilities

  • Support Estates teams in the delivery of planned preventative maintenance activities across the site.
  • Assist engineering teams with identifying and rectifying system faults, defects, alterations, and maintenance requirements.
  • Carry out estates support activities, including equipment operation and site services work.
  • Work safely and compliantly in line with Health & Safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and Control of Work processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, processes, and working practices.

This role is based on site at HM Naval Base Clyde and is contracted to 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience of estates activities and associated equipment, including scaffolding, forklift truck operations, or slinging activities.
  • Knowledge of manual handling processes and safe working practices.
  • Experience of completing or working to Risk Assessments.
  • Understanding of COSHH requirements and procedures.
  • Experience of working within Safe Systems of Work in a regulated or industrial environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as Hot Work Operative/Sentry, Working at Height, Pristine Manual Handling training, Asbestos Awareness, Load/Unload Restraint – Truck Vehicle certification, and Legionella Appreciation training.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and will be required to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for roles may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency.
