Naimuri has grown into a community of 180 people, primarily based in Salford, Greater Manchester, with additional presences in Cheltenham, London, Portsmouth, and Lincoln. Our name, derived from Japanese words meaning 'not - overburden', reflects our commitment to an efficient approach across technology, process, infrastructure, people, and culture. At the heart of Naimuri are our people and culture, driving our mission to make the UK a safer place.
We operate in an Agile-first environment that prioritizes transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You can expect:
- A Culture of Enablement: We aim to remove blockers and empower you with the decisions and tools needed to succeed.
- Focus on Quality: We pride ourselves on delivering well-written, maintainable code, and your work will serve as a benchmark for others.
- Active Collaboration: You will work closely with Platform Engineers, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners, managing infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes) and building automated delivery pipelines (using GitLab).
Naimuri engages in a diverse range of projects, from short-term initiatives to those spanning over 5 years. Recent work includes building data analytics tools, DevOps platforms, digital forensic data processing systems, search and reporting systems, custom workflow tools, AI assurance capabilities, and orchestrating data pipelines for LLM performance evaluation.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing complex features that directly support our mission. This role offers autonomy in making high-impact decisions, the opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems, and the support of a strong engineering community. Your contribution will extend beyond your own code, focusing on enhancing the entire team's effectiveness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the Solution: Lead the development of large, complex features from inception to delivery, often with minimal direct supervision.
- Be an SME Champion: Serve as a subject matter expert, driving technical discussions, resolving intricate defects, and acting as a primary point of contact for your team and the wider business.
- Enable Your Team: Proactively enhance team efficiency, facilitate the onboarding of new members, remove impediments, and foster knowledge sharing.
- Mentor & Grow: Act as a role model, mentoring other engineers, supporting their skill development, and elevating our standards for quality and documentation.
- Shape the Bigger Picture: Contribute to technical roadmaps, challenge existing design choices, and collaborate with customers to identify and scope new opportunities.
This role is ideal for individuals who:
- Thrive on taking ownership of complex problems from concept to production.
- Enjoy breaking down large, ambiguous challenges into actionable steps.
- Are comfortable challenging the status quo and actively seeking improvements in processes, code, and team efficiency.
- Consider broader factors like cost-efficiency, scalability, security, and performance in their design decisions.
This role may not be suitable if you:
- Prefer a strictly defined task queue focused solely on implementation.
- Are not interested in mentoring other engineers or engaging in broader team leadership.
- Are uncomfortable with the ambiguity inherent in tackling novel challenges.
