About the Role

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is seeking a motivated Business Analyst to join our team in London. In this role, you will serve as the primary interface between our clients and our technical delivery teams. Your expertise will be essential in enhancing our clients' products and services through strategic process improvement, meticulous requirements gathering, and insightful data analysis. You will apply a range of techniques to define, manage, and support the implementation of effective solutions that address our clients' business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering, process analysis, and data analysis for non-complex projects, producing key client outputs under general direction. Escalate issues beyond your scope of responsibility.
  • Apply appropriate techniques and evaluation tools in both Agile and Waterfall environments for non-complex work, with support from senior colleagues.
  • Facilitate client workshops and meetings to identify issues, opportunities, and complex business problems related to client change initiatives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client organizations and goals, playing an active role in delivering team value.
  • Build strong working-level relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Plan and competently monitor your own work to meet deadlines.

Business Contributions

Beyond client-facing projects, Business Analysts are expected to contribute to the wider business through various activities:

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead non-complex process improvements and efficiencies, collaborating with others on improvement activities.
  • People and Leadership: Coach junior staff, provide feedback to peers and colleagues, and take responsibility for your own development. Support new joiners and facilitate networking opportunities.
  • Client Development: Utilize your understanding of clients and BAE Systems offerings to build trust and relationships, potentially expanding engagement scope. Contribute to bid development, recruitment, and represent the company at external events.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Support the curation and dissemination of tools and methodologies, effectively leveraging and sharing existing knowledge.

Core Duties Explained

  • Investigate customer operational needs, problems, and opportunities, recommending improvements for both automated and non-automated processes.
  • Evaluate and reconcile information from multiple sources.
  • Decompose high-level information into details and abstract low-level information into general understanding.
  • Support the preparation of reports, business cases, and client deliverables.
  • Lead the development of specifications and models for non-complex IT systems or software, and assist with testing new solutions.

Requirement Definition and Management

  • Define and manage scoping, requirements definition, and prioritisation for small-scale changes, assisting with more complex initiatives.
  • Adhere to agreed standards and apply appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailed requirements, providing constructive challenge to stakeholders. Review requirements for errors and omissions.
  • Prioritise requirements and document traceability to their source.
  • Provide input to the requirements baseline/backlog. Manage requests for changes to requirements in line with change management policy.

Business Process Improvement

  • Lead the design and implementation of process improvements or re-engineering for non-complex business operations and services.
  • Apply analysis and evaluation skills to support business process tests and usability evaluations under supervision.
  • Conduct business/functional modelling to enable client decisions.

Process Testing

  • Design non-complex process test cases and scripts covering end-to-end business scenarios.
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews to refine test plans. Prepare and manage test data accurately mirroring business processes.
  • Automate repeatable tests for efficiency. Analyze and report on outcomes, focusing on impacts to business processes.
