Babcock is seeking a highly experienced Nuclear Welder Trainer to join our team at HMNB Clyde Faslane. The Role
As a Nuclear Welder Trainer, you will play a vital role in the development and qualification of welding professionals. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and performance of essential defence engineering projects. You will be responsible for delivering practical training, assessing competency against rigorous standards, and providing invaluable technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical welding training covering a range of processes and materials.
- Assess and qualify welders in accordance with nuclear and defence standards.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of weld operations.
- Provide technical guidance on welding procedures, defect identification, and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of training, qualifications, and compliance activities.
About You:
To excel in this role, you will possess:
- A strong background in welding, inspection, or fabrication, ideally within nuclear, defence, or shipbuilding.
- Practical experience with multiple welding processes (e.g., TIG, MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW).
- Experience in technical training, mentoring, or competency assessment.
- A thorough understanding of welding standards, processes, and inspection techniques.
- The ability to thrive in a high-integrity, safety-focused environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Modern Apprenticeship in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent.
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 Welding Inspector certification, or willingness to work towards.
- Proven TIG or MMA Welding experience.
- An HNC in Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
Working Arrangements:
This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) with hybrid working arrangements and regular overtime opportunities.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
