About the Role
Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) is seeking an experienced Field Service Representative to join the Fixed Wing Engineering Support team at RAF Lossiemouth. This pivotal role supports the UK’s P-8A Poseidon aircraft fleet, ensuring its continued operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
As the primary point of contact for technical matters, you will provide expert advice and support to internal Boeing teams, external customers, and suppliers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering technical advice within approved technical data sets for mechanical and propulsion systems (e.g., airframe, fuel, hydraulics, landing gear, engines).
- Investigating and resolving fault issues, and providing guidance on repairs.
- Leading the execution of maintenance activities in accordance with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) UK P-8A approved data set.
- Researching and evaluating user and supplier-reported discrepancies using analytics and various systems.
- Coordinating effectively between Military, Approved Maintenance Organisations, Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation, Engineering Authority, Design Organisation, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and BDUK functions.
- Troubleshooting multiple systems and resolving maintenance and operational issues.
- Applying knowledge of technical publications (e.g., IETMs, Repair Manuals, Technical Manuals, DAP, drawing sets) to provide resolutions.
- Interpreting and advising on modifications, service bulletins, and special technical instructions.
- Analyzing and developing technical data to support safe and efficient aircraft operations.
- Mentoring, motivating, and building professional relationships within the team and with stakeholders.
- Supporting business improvement initiatives such as Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI) and Continuous Improvement (CI).
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes.
- Understanding of the Manual of Maintenance and Airworthiness Processes (MAM-P), MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP), and Defence Standards.
- Specialized ability to analyze and interpret product data (e.g., engineering drawings, wiring diagrams).
- Effective collaboration skills, prioritizing team and organizational goals.
- Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to apply engineering principles to solve technical issues.
- Strong customer focus and effective communication skills.
- An Engineering degree with professional registration, or equivalent work experience and certifications.
- Experience with UK MOD Resolve and GOLDesp.
- Understanding of financial performance metrics and variance analysis.
- Leadership capabilities including delegation and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience with Boeing military/commercial fixed-wing aircraft maintenance procedures.
- High-level systems knowledge of the avionic/electrical aspects of the Boeing 737NG or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of UK MOD military aircraft maintenance processes and policies.
