At Cavendish Nuclear, we are committed to creating a safe and secure world. We are seeking a motivated Planning Engineer to join our team in Bristol, supporting critical national infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a Planning Engineer, you will be essential in the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of complex, highly regulated engineering programmes. You will provide accurate and assured schedules that facilitate sound decision-making, effective risk management, and on-time delivery for major nuclear projects. This role is integral to supporting the Sizewell C programme, a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure project.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours per week, based in Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, promoting flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with delivery teams.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, adhering to governance and planning standards.
  • Analysing progress, forecast data, critical path, and schedule risk to identify trends, threats, and opportunities.
  • Supporting delivery teams by reviewing contractor and supplier schedules and monthly progress submissions.
  • Producing clear planning reports, dashboards, and visuals for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams to deliver integrated planning solutions.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a Planning Engineer or Project Planner on complex programmes.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated environments such as nuclear, energy, infrastructure, rail, or defence.
  • Strong hands-on experience using Primavera P6.
  • Experience reviewing contractor or supplier schedules and progress updates.
  • Experience providing planning insight, analysis, and reporting to delivery teams.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • A recognised project management or planning qualification (such as APM), or equivalent experience.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
