Principal Digital Engineer

At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. As a Principal Digital Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of defence infrastructure from our Babcock Technology Centre in Stoke Gifford, Bristol, or our Birchwood, Warrington sites. This is a full-time, permanent position offering hybrid working arrangements, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office/onsite.

In this senior leadership position, you will be at the forefront of digital transformation within one of the UK's most critical engineering environments. You will champion the digital engineering strategy across significant Naval Nuclear programmes, focusing on the advancement of information management, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and project technology capabilities essential for complex defence and infrastructure delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of digital engineering workflows, processes, and project-wide digital intent.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality digital outputs from project and engineering teams, adhering to standards and client expectations.
  • Manage the workload of digital engineers, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of BIM and information management activities.
  • Conduct BIM and digital assessments, generating comprehensive reports and technical documentation to identify and mitigate delivery risks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute BIM, digital, and information management strategies, promoting digital best practices throughout the organisation.

Essential Experience:

  • A strong foundation in digital engineering management, quality assurance, and project delivery.
  • Expertise in BIM, CAD, and Information Management, including familiarity with ISO 19650 standards.
  • Proven experience in producing BIM Execution Plans and relevant information delivery plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage digital workflows such as clash detection, design coordination, and COBie/IFC data reviews.
  • Experience in engaging with senior stakeholders and operating at a senior or principal level, ideally within highly regulated sectors like nuclear or defence.

Qualifications:

A degree and professional chartership are strongly preferred. However, candidates with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and will be required to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
