Role Description:
As a Principal Engineer – Human Factors, you will be integral to the Human Factors Team, focusing on the Human Factors of Site Safety for the Barrow site and Boat programmes. You will be working across all three submarine programmes at BAE Systems, contributing to one of the largest Human Factors teams in the UK.
- Assess risks of human error and provide Human Factors advice.
- Perform task analysis.
- Work with process authors to improve procedures and reduce the risk of unintended outcomes.
- Represent Human Factors at design technical reviews.
- Conduct design substantiation reviews.
- Support Safety Case delivery.
- Lead Human Factors programmes of work.
Essential Skills:
- Degree in Human Factors/Psychology or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable Human Factors experience.
- Experience in delivering Human Factors into safety cases in a nuclear setting.
- Previous experience of stakeholder management.
- Proven experience in coaching and mentoring others.
- Experience in writing assessment reports and safety cases.
About the Team and Opportunity:
The Human Factors Team provides safety-oriented support to the day-to-day business of designing, building, and operating submarines, as well as maintaining our nuclear site licence. This is an exciting time to join as you will be working across all three submarine programmes.
We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Relocation support packages are available for those wishing to relocate closer to the nuclear site at Barrow, subject to eligibility criteria.
