About the Role
As a Principal Engineer within the Software Assurance team at BAE Systems, you will be instrumental in planning and conducting vital software assurance activities. This includes reviewing plans and processes, witnessing testing, and performing inspections and audits to uphold the integrity of our software solutions.
Core Duties
- Work collaboratively with our customer to establish an agreed-upon approach to risk management.
- Review software plans, documentation, and software aspects of system-level documents, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Engage proactively with System Designers, Software Developers, and other engineering disciplines throughout the design process to ensure software components meet all specified requirements.
- Accurately document the level of risk associated with software, providing comprehensive evidence and reporting to Senior Management.
- Liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels to effectively resolve non-conformances and manage programme risks.
Essential Skills and Experience
To excel in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of software lifecycle principles and their application across various software types. Familiarity with different software types, including programmable electronics, is beneficial but in-depth expertise in all is not required.
- A clear comprehension of the systems engineering lifecycle and its integral relationship with software development.
- Demonstrated logical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to identify practical solutions and gain stakeholder alignment for resolutions.
- Proven experience in applying Software Assurance methods and processes, including conducting audits and reviews.
