Role Overview
You will be instrumental in supporting product design and systems engineering across both new and legacy products. Utilizing advanced tools such as MBSE, Pugh matrices, FTA, and DFMEA, you will design, evaluate, and continuously improve engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass the full lifecycle of product and process design, development, testing, manufacturing, and evaluation, with an unwavering commitment to safety as the top priority.
Core Duties
- Support product design and systems engineering activities across new and legacy products.
- Apply systems engineering tools (e.g., MBSE, Pugh matrices, FTA, DFMEA) to drive robust design and evaluation.
- Plan, conduct, and manage product and process design, development, testing, and manufacturing activities.
- Ensure safety is embedded and prioritised across all engineering practices and team outputs.
- Implement and maintain engineering governance throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Support and contribute to design reviews from concept through to disposal.
- Manage configuration control and maintain Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOM).
- Engage, influence, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support project and proposal delivery.
Warhead Development Team Integration
You will be integrated within the Warhead Development team, working closely with the Portfolio Manager and reporting to the Engineering Manager. Your responsibility will be to ensure that programme derivation and execution include appropriate engineering development activity to achieve robust solutions, with planned activities featuring robust estimates and sound risk mitigation.
Location and Working Arrangements
The position will be primarily based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire. A minimum of four days per week onsite is required, within a hybrid-working environment where suitable. Travel to other customer, manufacturing, and test and evaluation sites may also be necessary.
