The Role

As a Production Support Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join our team at Devonport Dockyard, working across various business units. You'll play a crucial role in supporting complex engineering projects, from Warships and Submarines to Factory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery.

Day-to-day, you’ll contribute to maintenance, installation, and equipment testing across warships, submarines, and factory settings at Devonport Dockyard. You will be working closely with Electrical Fitters to ensure the smooth execution of complex engineering projects.

  • Assist experienced Electrical Fitters with pre-heat requirements for welding and temporary electrical supplies.
  • Support equipment installation and maintenance, including system functional tests and monitoring duties.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week, and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential Experience

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret work instructions, and use workshop tools, including those specific to electrical engineering.
  • Marine engineering experience preferred, including work on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships—other relevant engineering experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in a Naval Base environment is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving License is a requirement of this role.
  • HS0003 Hot Work Operators / Sentries is desirable.
  • HS0384 Practical Fire Training is desirable.
  • NUC1119 Entry to Radiological Area is desirable.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
