Project Manager - Ministry of Defence Infrastructure
Join an out-of-the-ordinary role as a Project Manager within the Devonport Infrastructure Directorate. You will be instrumental in delivering a wide array of Ministry of Defence (MoD)-funded infrastructure and construction projects, encompassing maintenance, improvements, and the development of new facilities across the Devonport site. This permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) offers hybrid working arrangements, based in Plymouth, Devon.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects across their full lifecycle, covering various disciplines, with individual project values up to £4 million.
- Oversee all aspects of project management, including planning, programming, finance, risk assessment, control, monitoring, and Health & Safety at every stage.
- Ensure projects are delivered in strict accordance with established procedures and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate effectively with supporting departments, including technical, commercial, procurement, scheduling, and Health and Safety teams.
- Manage assistant project staff as required.
- Produce scopes of work for straightforward projects.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in project management and delivery within the building, construction, or a related industry.
- Relevant knowledge and practical experience of applying Health & Safety Regulations.
- Understanding of APM (Association for Project Management) philosophy and responsibilities.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to self-manage and produce information and reports effectively.
- Competency in using Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior management and diverse stakeholders.
- Technical: A degree in an engineering or construction subject is preferred. An HNC may be accepted based on experience and capability.
- Project Management: An APM qualification is desirable, though may be waived temporarily based on experience and capability.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for certain positions may be influenced by factors such as place of birth, nationality, and residency status due to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
