About the Role

As a Project Professional at BAE Systems in Ridsdale, you will play a vital role in supporting the Ridsdale Trials Engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the planning and delivery of test and evaluation trials, employing strong project management principles. This involves meticulously monitoring progress against customer requirements across all lifecycle milestones.

You will be instrumental in coordinating resources to ensure the successful achievement of agreed deliverables. Maintaining clear and consistent communication will be key to managing stakeholder expectations within the defined project scope, providing timely updates at crucial stages. The role also requires you to track and report on essential business metrics, including sales, cash, and order targets. Furthermore, you will contribute to Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) planning and delivery through diligent milestone governance.

Working across multiple projects, this position demands a focus on timely execution, accurate reporting, and strict alignment with quality and performance objectives, as well as compliance requirements.

Core Duties

  • Ensure Delivery and cost milestones are met within internal and external project delivery frameworks.
  • Support commercial opportunities through estimating and the acceptance process.
  • Manage project system setup/release documentation and facilitate weekly project review meetings, including issuing and managing the open action and RAID (Risks/Assumptions/Issues/Dependences) log.
  • Prepare and report monthly project delivery status and business performance.
  • Support the Bid Panel on behalf of Ridsdale to track the progress of opportunities.
  • Where appropriate, support the Site Operations Manager in implementing effective CAPEX planning and monitoring tools.
  • Undertake any other reasonable management request within the context of the PSM role.
  • Take responsibility and lead the provision of Project support to the Site Operations Manager and Trials Engineers.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable project management experience, ideally within an engineering or similar technical environment.
  • Formal project management training with working knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and risk management tools (e.g., MS Project, Predict!). SAP experience is desirable.
  • Ability to support project delivery to meet customer expectations and provide accurate, timely status reports for inclusion in monthly T&E management reporting.
  • Experience operating in, or a strong understanding of, safety-critical or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to effectively support the interface between the organisation and customers or their representatives across commercial, procurement, and project-related discussions.
  • Strong action management capability, with the ability to clearly define, track, prioritise, and deliver actions to ensure successful project outcomes.

The Team

You will be joining the Ridsdale Site Team, a group of approximately 20 members with plans for growth. The team delivers a diverse range of bespoke projects, each with varying scope and complexity, requiring a flexible and well-rounded approach. Roles within the team are hands-on and extend beyond desk-based work, involving regular customer interaction and on-site engagement.
