About the Role
As a Project Professional within the AWMS IDT team at BAE Systems, you will be instrumental in conceiving and delivering a range of small but critical projects. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management and execution of these projects, work packages, and tasks, with success measured against the achievement of milestones according to cost and quality targets.
This role requires close collaboration with both Engineering and Operations departments to accurately scope projects and diligently monitor their progress. You will also take the lead in problem-solving activities to ensure the swift resolution of issues, or escalate them to the Portfolio Manager when necessary.
Core Duties
- Provide comprehensive project management support to the Portfolio Manager.
- Deliver defined work packages, tasks, and projects to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Monitor and report on project/programme performance, focusing on schedule, technical, financial, and quality objectives.
- Lead problem-solving sessions to proactively overcome project-related challenges.
- Ensure that all work packages and tasks adhere to the established Operational Framework and LCM Mandates.
- Support the creation of proposals for subsequent tasks and work packages.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in Project Management, ideally within a comparable industry such as Defence.
- Formal training and/or experience in Project Management methodologies.
- Knowledge of scheduling, cost management, and risk management software tools (e.g., MS Project & Predict).
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team across functional and company boundaries.
- A passionate individual with a strong drive for results.
