About the Role

Join Babcock at our Rosyth site as a Quality Control Inspector – Structural and be part of building the Royal Navy’s warships of tomorrow. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on UK Defence by supporting the Quality Manager to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement across the T31 project. You will develop your expertise in a dynamic environment and advance your career in a sector that is both exciting and noble.

What You'll Do

Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Completing inspection reports in a timely manner.
  • Updating and communicating inspection metrics in line with daily activities.
  • Carrying out Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and components (where qualified).
  • Conducting product verification audits and quality investigations on board ship.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An in-depth understanding of Quality Control fundamentals.
  • The ability to assess work carried out by production teams and subcontractors to assure quality and technical standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality Control requirements for naval warship construction and acceptance.
  • Broad knowledge of warship construction and design, with sound judgement to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Measurement Management Systems and ISO10012.

Qualifications Required

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualification to a recognised trade standard (Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering) and relevant academic level (HNC/SVQ Level 3).
  • CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (AWS CWI/SCWI, CWB CWI Level 2/SCWI Level 3).
  • Minimum PCN Level 2 in either MT or PT (desirable).
  • Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous.
  • IPAF preferable.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
