Role Description: Quality Engineer

This Quality Engineer role is focused on ensuring finished products consistently meet customer expectations and internal standards. You will verify the accuracy of completed work, identify workmanship issues, and clearly document any non-conformances. Providing constructive feedback to technicians, you will support the delivery of high-quality output. You will also collaborate with stakeholders across the business to maintain efficient workflows and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Ultimately, you will safeguard product integrity by ensuring all items are compliant, accurate, and fully approved for delivery, maintaining strong quality assurance practices throughout the production process.

Core Duties:

• Ensuring operational compliance to specifications and quality standards, such as ISO 9001.
• Driving and supporting targeted Continuous Improvement activities.
• Responsible for leading and managing the resolution of quality issues and supporting the internal audit process and external audits.
• Reviewing shop floor records, technical specifications, and drawings; inspecting products for approval and reviewing/approving Certificates of Conformity.
• Monitoring, analysing, and reporting reject data and quality issues to both internal and external customers.
• Working closely with export customers to understand their product and quality requirements.
• Raising of concessions and associated paperwork to customer requirements to allow product deliveries.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and Overseas for supplier and customer reviews, visits, and audits.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• A qualification in an engineering discipline or time-served experience in an engineering discipline (Engineering, Maths, or Science degree or equivalent).
• Proven experience within quality management in a manufacturing environment, preferably of a similarly highly controlled nature (aerospace, automotive, nuclear, medical devices, etc.).
• Competent use of quality investigation techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa.
• Ability to effectively coordinate data collection to inform business decisions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels across the business.

Location & Working Pattern:

This position is primarily based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire. The role operates on a 4 / 4.5 day working pattern, with occasional travel to other manufacturing and supplier sites as necessary.
