About the Role

QinetiQ is creating the future of defence technology and innovation, and we invite you to be part of this exciting journey. As a Quality Engineer at our Malvern site, you will work with brilliant minds on cutting-edge defence technologies.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide assurance that QinetiQ and its suppliers operate safely, compliantly, efficiently, and effectively. You will identify opportunities for continuous improvement to meet regulatory and business requirements, ensuring suppliers deliver fit-for-purpose outputs on time and implementing actions to enhance their performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, scope, and execute audits of processes, products, and suppliers to ensure adherence to legislation, regulations, ISO standards, and company procedures.
  • Identify and manage quality, safety, and compliance risks, driving corrective actions and communicating issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Enhance supply chain assurance through supplier audits, risk assessments, and performance improvement recommendations.
  • Support supplier and project management activities, including management plans, quality plans, regulatory compliance, and project documentation.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, managing preparation, responses, reporting, and management reviews.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement by sharing best practices, creating quality artefacts, and serving as a trusted quality advisor.

Essential Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Project and Engineering Management processes, with an understanding of quality application throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legislation, regulations, ISO standards, contractual requirements, and customer-specific quality management systems.
  • Proven track record in Quality Assurance and Supply Chain Assurance, including conducting audits and compliance activities in complex environments.
  • Experienced lead auditor capable of assessing supplier compliance and ensuring regulatory and contractual requirements are flowed down through the supply chain.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and continuous improvement using structured methodologies.

Essential Qualifications

  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent certification.

Location and Working Hours

This role is based at our Malvern site and involves 37 hours per week, with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.

The Malvern facility is renowned for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance, and complex system integration, significantly contributing to the UK’s defence capabilities. It develops technologies for both military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications, and cyber security.
