Quantity Surveyor Opportunities

Babcock is seeking motivated Quantity Surveyors to join their team at the historic Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is a chance to contribute to critical defence infrastructure projects and national security while developing your career in a dynamic environment.

As a Quantity Surveyor at Babcock, you will be instrumental in ensuring commercial excellence across high-impact contracts. You will support projects that protect the nation and contribute to global peacekeeping efforts, offering a role that is truly out of the ordinary.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive strategic cost planning through robust pre-tender estimates and evaluation of design alternatives.
  • Deliver insightful financial reporting to support project and client decision-making.
  • Shape project budgets in collaboration with subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Support high-stakes contract negotiations to secure favourable commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions to maintain profitability.

What you’ll need:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in quantity surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of building and construction practices.
  • Experience with Ministry of Defence (MOD) contracts.
  • Proficiency in NEC3 or NEC4 contract frameworks.
  • Specialism in a relevant field such as Civils, Building, Mechanical, or Commercial.
  • A drive to own and shape your career development journey.
  • Background in project management.
  • Professional membership or accreditation (e.g., RICS) is advantageous but not essential.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
