Senior Electronics Design Engineer

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you’ll require a strong understanding of Electronic Design Principles and will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and software engineers, to ensure all systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of electronic systems and payloads for a family of Unmanned Target Vehicles within our QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) department. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electronic system design and PCB design.
  • Detailed low-level analogue and digital design to support both new and legacy products.
  • Production and maintenance of design records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Project Management.
  • Provide Technical Support to Engineering Trials Activities.
  • Mentoring and assisting in the training of more junior electronic design engineers.

Essential Experience:

  • Designing electronic products.
  • Good working knowledge of PCB and component level circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience of using electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Competent in technical report writing.
  • Using structured and documented work methods.
  • Designing RF products (desirable).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field or have equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an electronic engineering development environment.

This role is 37 hours per week, based at our Ashford (Kent) site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
