About the Role
The Senior Electronics Engineer, based on-site at our Ampthill, Bedfordshire offices and reporting to the Design Team Lead, is responsible for the design, development, and support of mixed electrical/electronic solutions from concept to completion, following a detailed phase-gate development process.
- Define processes, specifications, and procedures to support the design and manufacture of electrical/electronic hardware.
- Provide technical review of supplier capabilities for source selection.
- Facilitate the development of functional and physical design requirements for a complete integrated design architecture.
- Design and development of electrical/electronic circuitry, including analogue, digital, microprocessor, FPGA design techniques, and power electronics.
- Analysis, test, and evaluation of electronic/electrical circuits and components.
- Electrical/Electronic circuit simulation and analysis.
- Produce technical documentation for trade studies, requirements, compliance evidence, and test documentation.
- Demonstrate strong team-playing abilities with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibit self-management, drive for results, and excellent organizational skills.
- Show flexibility in tasks undertaken.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
- Formal Electronic qualification such as HNC/HND/BEng.
- Experience of Electronics Hardware Design & Electrical Product Development for Harsh Environments.
- Electronic analysis including derating, stress, and tolerance.
- Proven experience of Schematic Capture, PCB Layout, and IPC awareness (preferably Altium).
- EMC Awareness at product and PCB level.
- Awareness of Def-Stan/Mil Standards, Safety, and Quality processes.
- Ability to support and manage aspects of Assembly, Integration, and Test.
- Experience working with lab test equipment, JTAG design, and debug of electronic circuits.
- Experience of Windchill or other Product Lifecycle Management tools.
