About the Role

As a Senior Auxiliary Systems Engineer at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in the design, integration, and technical assurance of a variety of auxiliary systems across complex marine platforms. You will leverage your deep expertise in system performance, capacity assessment, and optimisation to deliver robust, compliant, and customer-focused solutions throughout the shipbuilding lifecycle. This position is integral to maintaining high engineering standards, driving process improvements, supporting technical investigations, and providing evidence-based decision-making.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing specifications and developing Stage 1 Auxiliary System design solutions in line with all quality and technical standards.
  • Supporting and participating in the Zonal Integration process to ensure 3D model designs accurately reflect design intent and comply with relevant quality, standards, and requirements.
  • Conducting specialist technical analyses and investigations, including the evaluation and selection of technical options, and preparing reports with recommendations to resolve problems and enhance engineering capability.
  • Supporting the Principal Engineer by acting as the specialist point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve issues and maintain awareness of priorities and objectives.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Academic qualification in a STEM-related subject.
  • Ability and willingness to become recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer through an appropriate professional institution.
  • Experience within an Engineering or Defence industry or a similar field.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of fluid system design, including flow modelling, flow calculations, and the use of pipes and valves.
  • Experience with systems such as Water Systems (including Chilled Water), Waste Management Systems, Bilge, Sullage and Ballast Systems, Scuppers, Drains and Air Escape Systems, and Fuel Systems.
