What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct analysis and evaluations of submarine platform performance from concept design through to in-service support.
- Undertake the development, verification, and validation of mathematical manoeuvring models using physical model test data.
- Collaborate with enterprise partners to develop modelling capabilities, processes, and toolsets.
- Work with Naval Architect teams and customers to deliver innovative and safe submarine solutions.
- Support and conduct sea trials.
Core duties:
- Prior experience in undertaking surface ship and/or submarine stability analysis using packages such as Paramarine, Aveva or MaxSurf, with a strong understanding of hydrostatic principles and methods. OR Prior experience in the generation of surface ship and/or submarine manoeuvring modelling, with a strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methods.
- General knowledge of submarine or surface ship design standards and processes, including how the product is operated and the environmental challenges it may face.
- Prior experience with CAD packages such as Rhino or NX.
- A degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or relevant equivalent experience.
The Whole Boat Design – Naval Architecture Team:
As a Senior Naval Architect within the Naval Architecture team, you will work alongside experts in Naval Architecture, Weight Engineering, and CFD disciplines. You will contribute to major, complex submarine design and build programmes, delivering advanced platforms for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy. Relocation support packages are available for Submarine roles, subject to eligibility.
