The Role

This is a unique opportunity to drive the evolution of our network operations from manual processes to fully automated infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will champion automation initiatives, embed modern engineering practices, and lead the charge in transforming our network estate. You will focus on designing and implementing robust network automation solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability across our enterprise environments. Collaboration with engineers, architects, and stakeholders is essential to deliver automated solutions that align with our strategic goals.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading the transformation from manual to automated network operations, establishing best practices and driving the automation roadmap.
  • Designing and implementing network automation solutions across LAN, WAN, and datacentre environments.
  • Developing and maintaining automation scripts using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Integrating and optimizing centralized network management platforms (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Center).
  • Enhancing operational efficiency through automated provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
  • Collaborating across teams, mentoring engineers, and promoting knowledge sharing and cross-training.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong experience in network infrastructure automation (non-cloud focused) across enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to automation transformation initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Experience working with centralized network management and orchestration tools (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Center).
  • Solid understanding of core networking technologies (routing, switching, security) across enterprise-scale environments.
  • Experience in building reusable automation frameworks and templates.

Essential Qualifications:

  • CCNP or equivalent experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

About the Role

This role is 37 hours per week and is based at our Farnborough site. You may be required to work specific hours to cover shift patterns between 07:30 and 18:30 GMT. As part of our commitment to maintaining high service availability and rapid incident response, this role will require participation in an on-call rota.
