About the Role:
This position is responsible for implementing and facilitating the through-life Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, policy, and supporting toolset. The role holder will lead the development, deployment, and adherence to PLM processes and controls across each lifecycle phase, enabling the measurement of the PLM system's effectiveness.
The position holder will lead initiatives to develop and implement PLM-related processes, policies, requirements, and enabling technology. This includes supporting the management of product information for the Naval Ships business, leading audits and preparation of PLM-related information, and developing PLM reporting solutions. Key responsibilities include establishing strong configuration control processes, generating product baselines, and developing technical dashboards.
Core Duties:
- Develop efficient and effective processes for Mechanical Routed Systems Engineers across the business.
- Provide Engineering Routed Systems training, at-elbow support, and documentation for mechanical disciplines.
- Offer ongoing support to ensure the successful utilization of the PLM approach.
- Implement appropriate business rules and controls for each phase of the product lifecycle and ensure required reporting levels are delivered to PLM stakeholders.
- Assist in delivering an approach to the through-life digital thread, coordinating processes across various stakeholders and toolsets (e.g., CAD to PDM to ERP).
- Contribute significantly to the strategic view of PLM, identifying an evolution path, potential future upgrades, and solutions for emergent business requirements.
- Be accountable, with the rest of the PLM Team, for the delivery, support, and ongoing coordination of a product variation management solution (ship applicability and variant management) across applicable enterprise toolsets.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven PLM experience in a highly complex product design/build engineering environment.
- Experience with CAD (Foran) and PDM (Windchill) within HVAC/Piping disciplines.
- Proven ability to develop and sustain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders to achieve PLM objectives.
- Strong communication skills for briefing individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
