BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in PLM Structural Information & Systems to join their team in Scotstoun, offering a hybrid working pattern.
Role Description:
This role is crucial for delivering the next generation of CAD capabilities for Naval Ship design and manufacturing. You will be instrumental in defining and refining engineering processes, supporting the deployment of new digital tools, and ensuring efficient utilization of design data across Engineering and Manufacturing. Your contributions will directly impact design quality, productivity, and the successful execution of Naval Ship programs, while advancing the company's move towards more connected and efficient operations.
Core Duties:
- Drive the development and enhancement of CAD processes for Naval Ship 3D modelling and engineering outputs.
- Facilitate the integration of CAD, PLM, and ERP systems to establish streamlined and interconnected engineering workflows.
- Offer training, user support, and technical expertise on CAD modelling, outputs, and established best practices.
- Lead testing and validation initiatives to confirm that CAD solutions align with business and technical requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of new CAD tools and processes, encompassing evaluation, testing, documentation, deployment, and user adoption.
- Support manufacturing operations through the creation and maintenance of NC programs for plate and profile production.
Essential Skills:
- Extensive CAD knowledge and practical experience in 3D modelling, engineering drawings, and production outputs, ideally within shipbuilding using FORAN Structural modules (FHULL, FNEST, FHINFO, FBUILDS and FDESIGN) and/or Siemens NX.
- A solid grasp of engineering and manufacturing processes, and the management of design information throughout the product lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, document, and improve engineering processes, standards, user guides, and best practice procedures.
- Understanding of NC programming and manufacturing principles for plate and profile production.
