About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer for the Submarine Command System (SMCS), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and delivering complex software solutions for the UK Submarine fleet. Your work will ensure that software meets system performance, contractual requirements, and applicable standards/regulations.
Core Duties:
- Apply your experience to support the design, implementation, and testing of SMCS system solutions.
- Guide and mentor other Software Engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Assist the management team with reporting, planning, and estimation activities.
- Engage with SMCS customers and end-users as required to enable programme development and product evolution.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated ability in designing and delivering robust software solutions for large, multi-layered, distributed systems across several development projects.
- Experience in taking support strategies within a software development role.
- A strong understanding of all aspects of the software lifecycle, including knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
