About the Role
As a Senior Human Factors Engineer at Babcock, you will play a crucial role in the development and integration of vital defence technologies. You will ensure that systems, ranging from military satellite communications to complex safety-critical platforms, are intuitive, safe, operable, and designed around the people who use them. This is an opportunity to influence cutting-edge designs and make a significant impact on national security.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver Human Factors Integration activities across military satellite communications programmes.
- Apply human-centred design principles to ensure systems are operable, maintainable, and safe.
- Undertake essential Human Factors analyses, including task analysis, workload assessments, usability evaluations, and human error analysis.
- Collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
- Serve as the Human Factors point of contact for customer liaisons.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of Human Factors capability within the business.
Requirements
Essential experience includes:
- Proven experience applying Human Factors principles and methods within defence, aerospace, or other complex regulated industries.
- Experience delivering Human Factors Integration activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Familiarity with defence standards such as DEF STAN 00-251, JSP 912, Human Factors Integration frameworks, or equivalent industry standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams, customers, and external partners.
Qualifications:
- A Degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. This role is open to Sole UK Nationals.
