Senior Mechanical Supervisor - RAF Valley

As a Senior Mechanical Supervisor at RAF Valley, you will play a crucial role in providing hands-on leadership and technical authority within a highly regulated aviation maintenance environment. This full-time, permanent, onsite position operates on a 36-hour early shift pattern.
About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all mechanical activity on aircraft and their components. You will ensure that all maintenance is conducted safely, in compliance with regulations, and to approved technical standards. Key responsibilities include task delegation, supervision, fault diagnosis, and driving delivery performance, while also offering leadership and development opportunities to your team. This is a significant position of authority, involving the sign-off of work and the supervision of maintenance activities within defined trade boundaries.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:
- Leading and supervising mechanical maintenance activities on aircraft and aircraft components.
- Delegating tasks, authorising work, and ensuring airworthiness standards are maintained.
- Carrying out and overseeing fault diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and component changes.
- Monitoring progress against delivery targets and escalating issues as needed.
- Providing technical guidance, leadership, and people management to the mechanical team.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with approved technical information, safety requirements, and regulatory procedures.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated capability in supervising mechanical maintenance within an aviation environment.
- Strong technical competence in aircraft maintenance and fault diagnosis.
- Proven ability to lead, guide, and supervise a team within a regulated maintenance setting.
- Sound understanding of aviation safety standards, approved maintenance procedures, and quality requirements.
- Evidence of currency and recency through a maintained logbook.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in aeronautical engineering or a military equivalent.
- A recognised qualification such as City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
