About the Role
Join BAE Systems as a Senior Portfolio Manager and take the lead within the AWMS (Advanced Weapons and Munitions Support) IDT (Integrated Delivery Team). You will have complete accountability for the successful delivery of all projects within your assigned portfolio and will be instrumental in driving new business opportunities.
A deep understanding of the complexities involved in munition production and supply chain management is crucial for success in this position. You will also be responsible for regularly reporting on the delivery status and financial health of the portfolio to senior management.
Core Duties
- Accountability for the successful delivery of projects and programmes, and the results achieved by the team.
- Support a multi-functional team, fostering performance, accountability, and the successful completion of highly detailed projects.
- Identify and develop follow-on business opportunities related to existing products or processes.
- Ensure accurate forward load data for projects is derived using business toolsets.
- Oversee the development, establishment, and continuous improvement of procedures and guidelines for project/programme operations, ensuring adherence to the Operational Framework and LCM mandates.
About You
We are looking for candidates with a degree-level qualification in Engineering or Project Management, or equivalent industry experience demonstrating proven project delivery in complex engineering or defence environments. Formal training in Project Management (APM, PMI, or PRINCE) is essential, along with experience using scheduling and risk tools, and familiarity with SAP.
You should possess experience in building strong customer relationships, consistently delivering high levels of satisfaction, and fostering long-term engagement. The ability to resolve complex, non-routine programme challenges using sound judgement and structured problem-solving approaches is also a key requirement.
The Warheads Team
Within the AWMS team, you will support the development, qualification, and production of new products. This includes engaging with customers and leading the bidding and delivery of production contracts to international defence clients, including MOD and industry partners. Ensuring successful programme execution and stakeholder alignment will be paramount.

Location and Working Arrangements
This role is based in Glascoed, with a minimum requirement of 3 days onsite. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, and encourage you to discuss the specific options available for this role with your recruiter.
