Senior Procurement Specialist - Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist - Engineering to join our team at the Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role operates on a 4xFlex working pattern, comprising a 4-day working week (Monday - Thursday) and hybrid working arrangements. On-site days are typically Monday and Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday designated for remote work, subject to business needs.

As part of the Lockheed Martin UK Supply Chain Organisation, you will manage the total supply chain for goods and services, supporting a variety of programme and business requirements. Your focus will be on managing supplier delivery, primarily supporting development and production in the Armoured Vehicles, Platform Integration, Special Projects, and Weapons areas, for both domestic and international needs. Our global supply base is predominantly located in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

Success in this role demands experience within a functional organisation, combining proven skills in relationship building and on-time, in-full delivery achievement. This is accomplished through the successful negotiation and management of procurements, ranging from simple to complex subcontracts. You will also collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary product teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Quality.

The role supports various programmes and encompasses activities across multiple categories of goods and services, including build-to-print items and commodity areas such as PCBs, box-builds, cable harnesses, mechanical components, COTS, and MOTs.

Responsibilities may extend across the product life cycle and include:

• Own and manage strategic, critical, and tactical supplier relationships to achieve best value and identifying and managing supply chain risks.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities for a range of engineered products, including tenders, RFQs, offer evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
• Monitor and manage supplier performance to meet Schedule, Quality, Cost and Technical requirements, implementing corrective actions and improvement plans as required.
• Act as the primary interface between suppliers and internal customers, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
• Exercise delegated procurement authority, managing supplier agreements and purchase orders in line with governance requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, managing expectations, and influencing outcomes at multiple organisational levels.
• Support bids, proposals, and review activities by providing supply chain input as required.
• Drive continuous improvement within procurement and the wider supply chain.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

• Experience procuring complex drawn items (Mechanical Assemblies, PCB-A, Box Build and Cable Harnesses).
• Ability to successfully manage multiple Strategic, Critical and Tactical supplier relationships to overcome complex schedule and cost challenges.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations at a variety of levels.
• Capable of identifying and mitigating risks by implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Excellent commercial skills with the ability to analyse and negotiate best-value agreements.
• Proven track record of adhering to procurement procedures and processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely execution of all procurement activities.
• Able to complete work under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions.
• Be an advocate of and has demonstrated the ability to deliver continuous improvement.

Desired Skills:

• Supply chain experience in the defence environment.
• Experience leading or supporting Bids and proposals.
• CIPS qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance.
