At Babcock, we are creating a safe and secure world. As a Senior Project Manager based in Donnington, near Telford, Shropshire, you will play a vital role in delivering complex projects that support the UK's defence capability. Frequent travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be required.
The Role
In this critical role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of projects, overseeing them from initiation through to completion. Your responsibilities will include ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead complex projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to close-out.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, safety, and risk to achieve agreed objectives.
- Build strong relationships with customers, project teams, and key stakeholders to support successful delivery.
- Establish effective governance arrangements, roles, responsibilities, and project controls.
- Develop and mentor project professionals while driving continuous improvement across project delivery activities.
This role is based onsite at Donnington, with standard working hours of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Weekly travel to other Babcock and customer sites, including Devonport, Plymouth, Warminster, and Field Army locations, is expected.
Essential Experience:
- Extensive recent experience delivering projects within a complex engineering, defence, infrastructure, or comparable environment.
- Proven experience managing projects through the full lifecycle from bid phase to project completion.
- Strong understanding of project governance, performance reporting, and project controls.
- Experience managing customer relationships, stakeholder engagement, and project risks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- APM Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ), or willingness to attain within 12 months.
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline is desirable.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
