Senior Project Manager - Lead Projects Powering National Security

Cavendish Nuclear is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team and contribute to creating a safe and secure world. This permanent, full-time role offers flexible hybrid working, with the opportunity to be based at key locations across the UK including Warrington, Bristol, Newbury, or Leicester.

The Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure projects vital for nuclear defence, civil decommissioning, and fuels programmes. Your responsibility will be to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This position involves working 37 hours per week, with a hybrid working pattern typically requiring 2-3 days onsite per week, and occasional travel to other UK locations as needed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead governance arrangements, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive project performance through meticulous financial planning, cost control, and the effective application of Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
  • Champion continuous improvement by engaging project teams and adopting innovative tools, practices, and technologies.
  • Ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) compliance for all project activities.
  • Manage and inspire multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, and commercial functions to meet project objectives.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience delivering major infrastructure projects with values exceeding £50 million.
  • Strong track record of managing full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project lifecycles, from concept and design to construction and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams (typically 50+ people) within complex and highly regulated environments.
  • Practical expertise in applying Earned Value Management for enhanced project control, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Experience within regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, utilities, petrochemical, or aerospace sectors.

Qualifications

A Project Management certification or accreditation (such as Association for Project Management or Project Management Institute) is advantageous.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
