As a Senior Risk Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting complex projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial bidding through to successful delivery. You'll be responsible for developing bespoke risk solutions, offering expert risk advice, and contributing to essential project documentation such as risk registers, cost and schedule risk estimates, and analyses of QinetiQ programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the implementation of best practices and risk management systems to ensure effective project and programme delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to create and maintain high-quality risk registers, develop mitigation plans, and implement tailored risk management approaches.
  • Analyse and report on risk data, including quantitative cost and schedule risk models, to provide crucial insights for decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice to teams on risk exposure, contingency planning, and the broader operational impacts of risk management strategies.
  • Lead on complex projects, offering solutions to challenging issues and delivering effective risk management outcomes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide risk assurance and recommendations, ensuring alignment with organisational processes and integration with project management controls.

Essential Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and practices, with a comprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Broad understanding of project management and control techniques, trends, and tools, including governance, assurance, benchmarking, data analysis, change control, cost control, and supply chain development.
  • Extensive experience working within project teams and demonstrating leadership in risk management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing new processes, standards, or plans that significantly impact functional results.
  • Experience in coaching, reviewing, and delegating tasks to junior professionals, with a track record of mentoring and functionally managing lower-level staff.
  • Extensive experience utilising project management tools such as Predict! Risk Controller and Predict! Risk Analyser.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Hold one of the following qualifications: APM Risk Management, IRM Certificate in Risk Management, PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), MoR Foundation, or be actively working towards one of these.

Work Environment:

This role operates on a 37-hour week and is based at our state-of-the-art Farnborough site. A minimum average site attendance of three days per week is expected.
