Senior Scientist

The Role

As a Senior Scientist, you will be instrumental in leading and delivering advanced radar and signal processing activities. You will provide technical authority and direction across complex projects, ensuring high-impact outcomes for our customers and operational capability. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology alongside brilliant minds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and optimisation of models, simulations, and analytical tools.
• Provide technical leadership across radar and signal processing projects.
• Design and assess advanced signal processing chains and algorithms.
• Interpret complex datasets and present clear recommendations to customers.
• Support bid activities and technical governance.
• Mentor and develop junior scientists and engineers.

Essential Experience:

• Significant experience in radar, signal processing, algorithm development, or modelling and simulation.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical work packages or projects.
• Strong background in applied mathematics and physics.
• Coding experience in MATLAB or other languages such as Python or C++.
• Experience working with customers and stakeholders, influencing technical decisions.
• Demonstrable mentoring or technical leadership experience.

Essential Qualifications:

• Degree in Science or Engineering (Physics, Mathematics, or similar).
• Substantial relevant industry or research experience.

This role is based at Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) and involves 37 hours per week. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
