About the Role
As a Senior Systems Integration Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the Interrogation Friend or Foe (IFF) system, a critical component for the Royal Navy's operational capability. You will manage the integration and commissioning of this vital system into the T26 platform, working towards an important project milestone. Your remit will also extend to other above-water sensors, sharing responsibility with the wider team.
Core Duties
- Manage a mix of internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied.
- Support design change activities from existing platform baselines to ensure design intent is realised.
- Innovate when defining solutions to minimise project risk and maximise the likelihood of successful implementation.
- Work with Operations colleagues to ensure successful installation of equipment.
- Work with suppliers to ensure successful commissioning of equipment.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Combat Systems and the roles of other teams within the shipyard.
- Awareness of design considerations involved when fitting equipment to the ship.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure successful installation activities.
- An academic qualification in a STEM related subject, with the ability and willingness to become recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.
The Team
You will join the T26 Above Water Sensors Team, responsible for a diverse range of equipment, much of which is installed in or around the composite mast, and spread throughout the ship. This is a collaborative engineering team focused on ensuring smooth integration and installation, essential for resolving new customer requirements and technical issues to maintain programme timelines. The team is unique in its delivery of both traditional combat system capability and the composite mast structure, working together for the collective good in an upbeat, sociable, and supportive environment.
