About the Role: SHE Lead Advisor
As the SHE Lead Advisor for Naval Ships at BAE Systems, you will be instrumental in the hands-on delivery of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) arrangements. This critical role involves overseeing these arrangements across complex shipbuilding and support programmes.
You will work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and operational staff to implement SHE plans, conduct vital assurance activities, and actively manage risks within dynamic environments. Your leadership will be visible and inclusive, extending throughout the build, integration, test, and trials phases of projects.
This position directly safeguards people, assets, and programme milestones, ensuring that Naval Ship projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently. You will be joining a highly skilled and collaborative SHE Technical Services Team that supports some of the UK's most critical Naval Ship programmes.
Core Duties:
- Support the development, maintenance, and deployment of SHE management systems, including objectives, processes, and assurance mechanisms.
- Provide clear, competent SHE advice to leaders, facilitating effective and inclusive risk management.
- Take the lead on requirements aimed at improving SHE performance, including the implementation of policies, objectives, and robust risk controls.
- Contribute to innovative SHE change programmes that strengthen risk management and embed continuous improvement.
- Deliver assurance activities to confirm compliance with legal requirements, the Operational Framework, and SHE Management Systems.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Hold a QCF/NQF Level 5 or higher SHE qualification, such as a NEBOSH Diploma, an honours degree in Safety, Health, or Environmental practice, or an equivalent accredited qualification.
- Demonstrate considerable influencing skills to help operationalise, integrate, and deliver processes, projects, and organisational change.
- Apply inclusive communication and collaboration to embed effective SHE practices across diverse teams and environments.
Working Arrangements:
This role is based in Govan or Scotstoun, with a 4.5-day per week onsite commitment, including a half day on Fridays. BAE Systems offers a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; please discuss the specific options for this role with your recruiter.
