// Role Specification

We are Naimuri, a community of 180+ professionals based primarily in Salford, Greater Manchester, with significant presences in Cheltenham and London. We are a growing tech start-up with a mission to make the UK a safer place to be.

About Naimuri

Our ethos is reflected in every aspect of our organisation, from technology and process to people and culture. We operate in an Agile-first environment that champions transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our culture is built on enablement, empowering you to make decisions and providing the tools you need to succeed. We value quality in our work, and your contributions will serve as a benchmark for excellence. You will actively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Platform Engineers, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners, and be involved in managing and maintaining infrastructure like Kubernetes and building automated delivery pipelines using GitLab.

We undertake a variety of projects with durations from a few weeks to over five years. Recent projects include building a data analytics tool with a Neo4J graph database, a DevOps platform for 3000 users, processing digital forensic data, developing a search and reporting system with ElasticSearch, a custom workflow tool with Camunda and a React/TS front-end, an AI assurance capability, and orchestrating data pipelines for LLM performance evaluation.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Naimuri, you will have the autonomy to drive impactful decisions, the space to tackle complex technical problems, and the support of a strong engineering community. This role is about enhancing the entire team's capabilities. We will look to you to:

  • Continuously build in-depth knowledge, apply design patterns, and leverage appropriate tools to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proactively identify and implement solutions to improve team processes and efficiency, engaging actively in team meetings.
  • Participate in design discussions, constructively challenge proposed solutions, identify technical risks, and create/maintain useful documentation.

We are looking for individuals who thrive on breaking down ambiguous problems into actionable steps and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions. If you instigate collaboration, prioritize the team's success, and are comfortable challenging the status quo to drive improvements in processes, codebases, and team efficiency, this role is for you.

This role may not be suitable if you are uncomfortable owning delivery tasks that require cross-team collaboration or guidance, are not interested in sharing knowledge or supporting team members' development, or are uneasy with the ambiguity inherent in tackling novel challenges.

Learning and Progression

Continuous Personal Development, or 'Personal Kaizen', is a cornerstone of Naimuri's culture, fostering a transparent and supportive environment for growth. You will be assigned a mentor, typically from outside your team, to guide your development journey. Naimuri actively supports training through internal knowledge sharing and external courses, empowering you to identify and pursue development opportunities. Our progression framework clearly outlines growth paths, reinforcing achievements that contribute to your Personal Kaizen.

Pay and Benefits

Naimuri offers competitive industry pay based on your role's location. Salary is dependent on experience, with seniority assessed during the interview process. A full-time working week is 37.5 hours with flexible working hours. Part-time working is negotiable. Core hours are 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, with the office open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Most teams have agreed 'in-office' days for collaboration. Occasional travel to customer sites or other UK locations may be required depending on the project.
