Software Engineer–Simulation (Simulation)

Support the Defence and Security domains at Boeing locations and Customer sites across the UK, focusing on areas such as Autonomous Systems, Training and Simulation, Cyber, Space, Intelligence, and Security. You will join a rapidly growing Engineering Capability with a strong culture of development, collaboration, and success. Position Responsibilities

• Support the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, simulation visualizations, virtual environments/platforms, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Partner with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and the dynamics of the systems being simulated.
• Assist in designing, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in C++, Lua Scripting, or one of the similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with Physics-based Modelling and Simulation system engineering principles.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, BitBucket etc.).
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Automation, and CI/CD concepts.
• Understanding of testing frameworks and unit testing practices.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working as a Software Simulation Engineer or a similar role.
• Experience across the Software Development Lifecycle and software standards such as ISO9001.
• Understanding of distributed interoperability simulation protocols used within defence collective training (e.g., DIS and HLA).
• Understanding and experience of COTS simulation and training environment development, execution, verification, validation, and deployment.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles.

Location

The primary location for our Engineering teams is Fleet, with a general expectation of a minimum of 3 days per week in the office to foster collaboration and team efficiency. We will also consider applicants who may prefer to be based out of our Bristol offices, and potentially others dependent on the suitability of the candidate.

Important Information

This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must be a UK citizen and have current legal authorization to work in the UK. Boeing will not attempt to obtain immigration and labor sponsorship for any applicants. Relocation is not available for this position. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a SECURITY CHECK. This position requires the ability to acquire a UK security Clearance for which the UK Government requires UK residency. The successful candidate will hold, or have the ability to acquire, Security Clearance (SC).
