Solution Architect

As a Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical solutions for one of the UK's most significant defence infrastructure programmes, specifically supporting the maintenance of the submarine fleet – a critical element of national security.

In this role, you will be a key contributor within our growing architectural team in the Digital Solutions business unit, working on a portfolio of medium to enterprise-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into high-level solution designs.
- Specify system components, integration points, and data flows using modern technologies and platforms.
- Present and communicate solution designs effectively to stakeholders through workshops, proposals, and visual storyboarding.
- Lead technical delivery, address complex challenges, manage risks, and collaborate with software partners for successful deployment.
- Ensure that all solutions adhere to architectural strategies and standards, selecting appropriate technologies and vendors to meet programme objectives.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering hybrid working arrangements, with 2 days per week spent in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in technical architecture and solution design, utilising tools such as Sparx EA and frameworks like ArchiMate.
- A strong understanding of security principles and governance.
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering complex systems integration solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and manage stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Experience:
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., defence, aerospace, nuclear, finance).
- Experience in integrating enterprise-level systems.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in technical architecture and solution design, such as a BCS Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise and Solutions Architecture.
- Additional certifications in security or enterprise systems are considered advantageous.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
