About the Role

QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) is seeking a dedicated Stores Person to join our Stores Team in Ashford, Kent. As a vital subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, QTS specialises in designing and manufacturing advanced Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, renowned globally for their use in realistic weapons testing and operator training. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of our facilities.

What Will I Be Doing?

Reporting to the Stores Lead, you will be instrumental in supporting daily operations. Your responsibilities will encompass managing goods inwards, kitting components for production, maintaining accurate stock control, and ensuring efficient dispatch of goods. You will uphold high operational standards, focusing on accuracy and efficiency.

Key Duties Include:

  • Receiving and processing incoming goods, ensuring accuracy within the ERP system.
  • Kitting components and assemblies according to production needs.
  • Securely packing goods and verifying correct documentation.
  • Supporting stock control, including conducting stock checks and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Operating a forklift truck as required.
  • Maintaining precise system records and data integrity.
  • Contributing to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring high standards of housekeeping, health, and safety.

What Do I Need?

We are looking for individuals with prior experience in a stores or warehouse setting, ideally within manufacturing. You should be organised, reliable, and committed to accuracy and safety, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative team approach.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices, including manual handling and hazardous goods.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
  • A proactive, team-focused attitude.
  • Experience operating a forklift truck (a valid Forklift Truck licence is desirable).

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience using an ERP or stock management system (including barcoding).
  • Experience with vertical storage systems.
  • Experience working within a Continuous Improvement environment.
