Structural Design Engineer - Eurodrone Programme
An opportunity has arisen for a Structural Design Engineer at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). You will be dedicated to design activities for Eurodrone, Europe’s most strategic future UAV Defence programme, specifically providing design support to Pre-FAL production activities.
Department Mission:
The selected candidate will join the Eurodrone Structural Design Engineering Team. Eurodrone is a flagship European defence programme developed jointly by Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, playing a key role in European technological sovereignty. In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural engineering environment, collaborating with various stakeholders (Stress, Aerodynamics, Systems, Production) to develop cutting-edge solutions for metallic and composite structural components.
Responsibilities:
- Design and validate structural components and assemblies (metallic and composite/hybrid), optimizing for weight, cost, performance, and safety using modern engineering tools.
- Provide direct Design support to Pre-FAL production activities, resolving technical issues such as HNCs, Concessions, and DAMs.
- Interface continuously with key engineering departments (Stress, Systems Engineering, Aerodynamics, Maintainability) to define robust technical solutions.
- Support external and internal stakeholders, providing technical assistance to Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams, as well as following up with Design suppliers.
- Support the complete End-to-End lifecycle of the aircraft using state-of-the-art design methodologies and software applications.
- Participate in technological development within the structural discipline for advanced military aircraft projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in Structural Design, specifically in Metallic and Composite technologies applied to aircraft design.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong background in aircraft structural design tools, End-to-End lifecycle methodologies, and interface management with Stress/Systems/Aerodynamics disciplines. Experience resolving production/manufacturing design issues (Concessions, HNCs, DAMs).
- Soft Skills: Strong adaptability, high technical problem-solving mindset, and excellent ability to work in a collaborative, networking mode with cross-functional teams.
- Languages: Advanced level in English (fluent written and spoken).
