Submarine Repair Specialist
At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. As a Submarine Repair Specialist at our Devonport Royal Dockyard, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and assurance of facilities vital to maintaining the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.
Within the User Acceptance Group, you will ensure that facility designs, safety cases, and operational processes align with end-user requirements and adhere to strict regulatory and engineering standards. This influential role offers the opportunity to apply your specialist knowledge of submarine maintenance and nuclear facility operations to significant infrastructure programmes. Your expertise will directly impact future capabilities and support critical defence projects, all while advancing your career within a highly specialised engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of User Acceptance Group activities to ensure facility designs meet operational requirements.
- Advise on submarine maintenance and facility design to support engineering, safety, and project teams.
- Review design documentation and participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with user needs.
- Contribute to the development and management of functional requirements for new and existing facilities.
- Provide specialist input into submarine upkeep, operations, and future infrastructure developments.
This role is full-time, 35 hours per week, and offers hybrid working arrangements, requiring a minimum of 2 days in the office/onsite.
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in nuclear submarine operations, maintenance, or nuclear facility environments.
- Strong understanding of submarine upkeep activities and engineering processes.
- Experience contributing to facility design, commissioning, or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and provide expert advice to engineering stakeholders.
- Experience working within highly regulated or safety-critical environments.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (desirable).
- Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
- Equivalent qualifications or experience will be considered where relevant expertise is demonstrated.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance.
