About the Role

As a Supply Chain Development Specialist at Babcock, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing supply chain strategies that support major bids and programmes. Working at the forefront of business-winning activity, you will help identify the best supplier solutions, influence key stakeholders, and ensure robust procurement approaches are in place from bid phase through to delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to directly impact how Babcock secures and delivers critical defence capabilities, while enhancing your commercial, procurement, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Support the development of procurement and supply chain content for customer proposals and tenders.
  • Engage with suppliers to gather, assess, and evaluate responses for pricing and capability.
  • Contribute to bid reviews, presentations, and internal governance processes.
  • Build strong supplier relationships to enable effective collaboration during bid phases.
  • Capture lessons learned from bids to improve future supply chain strategies.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

You will demonstrate strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, and influencing skills, coupled with commercial insight and the ability to unlock value within supply chains. Experience in managing negotiations and resolving complex commercial challenges effectively is essential, alongside a proactive, delivery-focused approach and strong personal drive. A proven track record in working with procurement strategies and processes to achieve business goals is required. A professional qualification in procurement and supply chain management (such as CIPS) or equivalent experience is desirable, along with a solid understanding of procurement tools, techniques, and best practices. Experience of public and private sector procurement, knowledge of business winning and bid processes, and proven track record in commercial negotiation, including contract terms and conditions, are also key.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many positions within the company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a requirement for two days onsite at one of our Babcock locations (Rosyth, Fife, Devonport, Plymouth or Bristol).
